Robert Schumann's declaration was read before an organization of Polish Scouts

Robert Schumann's declaration, which lays the foundation for the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), was read to Scouts in Poland.

Young people learned about a time when freedoms and human rights in Poland were violated or taken away, about dissident movements, the momentum and prosperity that EU membership brings. They experienced the excitement of Schumann, whose short speech freed Europeans from the fear of hatred or revenge.
